Dry scalp can be relieved with homemade natural cosmetics

Dry heating air, biting cold and scratchy hats - our scalp has to put up with a lot in winter. So it's no wonder that many people struggle with itchy, dry scalps, especially in the cold season. But do you always have to resort to expensive hair care products to get this problem under control? Of course not: we will show you how to get dry scalp under control naturally with home remedies. You can find more home remedies for dry skin on legs, hands and face here.

1. Oil Cure

A common reason for a dry scalp is the lack of the natural sebum layer that protects the scalp from drying out. In order for the head to regain its natural protective layer, it is advisable to use an oil treatment. For example, olive oil or coconut oil is applied to the scalp so that it can act overnight. The next morning, the agent is washed out with a gentle shampoo. The oil supplies dry skin with moisture and important fatty acids so that the natural sebum layer can regenerate. However, oils obtained from medicinal plants such as evening primrose or burdock are particularly effective: evening primrose or burdock root oil not only moisturizes the scalp, but also immediately relieves itching and has a calming effect.

2. Honey

Honey for your hair? What sounds strange at first is a real insider tip for a dry scalp as a home remedy. Mixed as a 1:1 quark-honey mask, the honey relieves itching and soothes irritated scalps, while the quark moisturizes. After about 10 to 15 minutes exposure time, the mask is simply washed out. Positive side effect: Even brittle hair has more shine thanks to the mask.

3. Herbs

The fact that many herbs have a healing effect is well known to most people. On the other hand, very few people know that they are also suitable as home remedies for dry scalps. In fact, many plants can bring relief, especially for an itchy, irritated scalp. Peppermint (Mentha × piperita), for example, soothes the skin and has an antiseptic effect - a hair conditioner made from peppermint tea is therefore particularly good at relieving itching. A brew of rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus) not only has a calming effect, but also stimulates blood circulation in the scalp and ensures that it regenerates itself more quickly. Tea made from stinging nettles (Urtica) is particularly popular as a home remedy for dry scalps: it has an anti-inflammatory effect and also improves blood circulation in the scalp.

4. egg

Eggs can be found in every kitchen. But they are also in good hands in the bathroom - they are wonderful home remedies for dry scalps. To do this, however, the egg yolk must first be separated from the egg white, because while the egg yolk has a particularly nourishing effect, the egg white can make the hair stick together uncomfortably. The egg yolk is now massaged into the scalp and washed out thoroughly with a mild shampoo and cold water after four hours. The egg yolk has a moisturizing and nourishing effect on the scalp, massaging it in stimulates blood circulation and thus promotes the regeneration of the damaged skin layers.

5. Avocado

Even though few succeed in growing an avocado, it can still be found in most kitchens. But the exotic fruit is not only characterized by its delicious taste, you can actually use it as a home remedy for dry scalps. The plant is rich in vitamins, minerals and, above all, oils, so that it has a particularly good moisturizing effect. You can use the avocado very simply by mixing its pulp with a teaspoon of high-quality oil (wheat germ oil/jojoba oil) and massaging the resulting cream into the dry hairline. After 20 to 30 minutes, the treatment can be washed out with lukewarm water and, if necessary, a light shampoo.
