Origin and history of the apple
The 'Red Jonaprince' variety, also known under the name 'Red Prince', is actually a mutant of the well-known 'Jonagold' variety. In the nineties, the Princen brothers from the Netherlands succeeded in breeding this new variety. The biggest difference to the 'Jonagold' variety is the intense red coloring of the apples. In Germany, this variety is now mainly cultivated in the north, together with the varieties 'Braeburn', 'Elstar' and 'Jonagored'.
Features and taste of 'Red Jonaprince'
The apples immediately catch the eye with their deep red colour, which can be seen from the tree early on. The apples are medium-sized, round and extremely tasty. Their taste hardly differs from that of the apple variety 'Jonagold'. The bite into a 'Red Jonaprince' really cracks and is extremely refreshing. The apples are very juicy and have a sweet and sour taste.
Special features of theCultivation
Young trees of the apple variety 'Red Jonaprince' grow very strongly at the beginning. With increasing age, however, growth levels off at a medium level. Apple trees of other varieties in the area are necessary to pollinate the flower, since the variety is self-sterile.

The fruits ripen around mid-September, in some places not until the beginning of October. Due to the low pressure sensitivity, they can be stored very well.
