The numerous varieties of black cabbage differ mainly in the time of harvest, taste and cultivation on the balcony or outdoors.
Known varieties of black cabbage:
- Nero di Toscana: Traditional variety from Tuscany that produces tasty leaves from July to December.
- Palmizio Senza Testa: A variety from Italy, especially popular for salads; the young leaves are harvested after about 40-60 days.
- Black Magic: High-yielding hybrid variety (probably crossed with kale) with large leaves; aromatic taste; the variety Black Magic also grows very well in the tub on the balcony and achieves high yields.
